Thomas Morris, the younger brother of Fred Morris, resided with his parents at 23, Randolph Road, Derby, and had served in the army for ten years, nine of which he had served in India. He arrived for service in France in October 1914, and was wounded in January, 1915. He was then on home leave for a short while, before returning to France ‘doing duty as a bomb-thrower’.
On the 14th November 1915, Thomas Morris was ‘shot in the neck….and died two hours later in the arms of his brother’ Fred. ‘The deceased soldier had intended coming to his home at 23, Randolph Road, Derby, last Thursday to be married.’ He was aged 27.
